Brains
This Score applies to all mental and perceptive abilities of the character or creature. Use it to spot enemies, resist attempts to control or deceive the character, to trigger and use any magical or supernatural ability, figure out a Saiyajin’s quips, and so on. It typically factors the average of the character’s Mental Attributes (Intelligence, Perception, and Willpower) and the average of appropriate skills, plus six. As with Combat, the Brains Score merges a number of related Attributes and skills into one total. If the Director wants a powerful hypnotist who could not think his way above ground from the subway or out-think an inmate at Bedlam, a range of different Brains Scores is necessary.

Duh?: Life is like an open book or a box of chocolates to this guy or gal, but he can't read a word. Stupid is as stupid does. Common for most of Rhy'Din’s illiterate poor. |
9-10 |
Average Joe Guy: Not university material. The character's never going to win at Jeopardy or Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, and won't be building any mechanical hands, but is able to hold down a job and live a normal life, and can probably complete a job that has complete and detailed instructions—in time. |
11-12 |
Smart: Someone with a good education and the smarts to make the most of it. |
13-14 |
Brilliant: Highly educated, very smart, or both. |
15-16 |
Genius: An expert, or just really, really intelligent. Probably a nerd. ???? falls in this category. |
17-20 |
Genius Plus: “Ah, I see by that pot we have arrived in ancient Sumeria. I’d say it’s about 1,000 AD.” Kind of guy who tries to freeze time or create portals between worlds. Don’t play Trivial Pursuit against this character. Mayhap a handful of these types every generation. |
21+ |
Einstein: Holders of special chairs at university named just for them. Newton was one. Einstein, Hawking, and other incomprehensible folks. Nothing gets past this character. These folks are so above and beyond the average mind they might appear absent minded or simple. “I think I can duplicate the effects of the time vortex, just let me figure out where I put my glasses." |
